Every year we enter in a period of consultation with the local parish councils closest to Silverstone in order to gain their blessing for the years big endurance event at Silverstone. Unfortunately this year Whittlebury parish council have opted to not support the event. Silverstone Circuits Ltd require their support in order to proceed with the race. As an organiser, we have to respect their wishes and the Silverstone Britcar 24 HR will not be taking place in 2014.
For the past three years we have had no complaints from the local residents about the events, during or after the race. We have imposed strict sound regulations on competitors and done everything we can to ensure as little disruption occurs to those living in the area around Silverstone as possible.
We are of course disappointed with the decision from the parish council but are meeting with them soon to discuss the possibility of resuming the event in 2015. If we are unable to progress these discussions we will look to alternative venues to host the well-loved race.
